MEETINGS
Our Inaugural meeting was Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 1 pm HST (Hawaiian Standard Time). Peter Blau, BSI was the guest speaker. This was followed by a meeting on February 13, 2021 which featured Hal Glatzer who spoke on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Top 12 favorite stories from the Canon. Additional meetings took place on May 8, 2021 which was graced by Steve Mason, BSI who spoke on "Sherlock by the Numbers" and was followed by Sonia Fetherston, BSI who delivered a very unique and special presentation on "Hawaii's Sherlock Holmes." Our final 2021 meeting took place on November 13, 2021 which featured renowned Sherlockian, writer, and movie/TV director Nicholas Meyer, BSI. Nick's presentation was extremely well-received and covered several topics, philosophies, and his newly published Sherlock Holmes book, The Return of the Pharaoh. Our first 2022 Zoom meeting took place on February 12, 2022. The guest speaker was legal scholar Rich Krisciunas whose presentation was "Beppo is Not a Murderer." It examined the evidence deduced by Holmes in The Adventure of the Six Napoleans (SIXN) and Rich argued that the Crown would be unable to convict Beppo of killing Pietro Venucci. (NOTE: Video will be posted later this year following publication in The Sherlock Holmes Review.) Our most recent meeting took place May 14th and featured renowned film professor and Sherlockian Dr. Russell Merritt, BSI. Dr. Merritt's presentation was entitled "On the Trail of Der Hund," an account of how a German silent Holmes film was found and restored against all odds. The video is now published below.
Future meetings will be August 13th (Australian author, playwright, & Sherlockian Cenarth Fox) and November 12th (renowned British Sherlockian and co-editor of The Sherlock Holmes Journal, Roger Johnson).
Please see videos of all our 2020-2022 meetings below! (Note: Fast forward the November 11, 2020 meeting about 16 minutes to begin at the actual start.)
